That Riviera touch
This comedy-drama is a bit of a feast for Christmas Eve. With a super cast - including Warren Clarke (pictured), Pam Ferris, Sam Kelly, Anna Chancellor, Reece Shearsmith and Peter Vaughan - it's a bit over-stuffed with comedy stereotypes and clichés, but still works well, especially if you're not over-critical given the time of year.

It's Christmas Eve at the Riviera Hotel in Eastbourne. Ashley Dodds (Shearsmith) the assistant manager, is excited to be left in charge at last - he's going to make it the best Riviera Christmas ever. Unfortunately, his plans go awry from the moment the guests - a motley bunch including a man-eating divorcee, a philandering reverend, a cantankerous old man and a father and son who are mourning - start arriving.
